This is an on-going project that considers occurrences that take place within celebrated areas of London, that are mostly populated by people who are transient. They are a celebration of place. They are attempts to show, as Lawrence Durrell evoked in The Alexandria Quartet, the spirit of the place.
The tableaux show corporeal rhythms, defining edifices, memorative statues, visual metaphor and allegory; they are in some ways imaginary timepieces. On the surface they might appear as democratic spaces, yet they are predefined and managed; there histories embedded within those who enter the space.
The city is always open to subjective interpretations and the febrile imagination. It is a space where you can perpetuate, unpack or invent narratives
